residence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must be&nbsp;<strong>physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days in a 12-month period<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must have an eligible status, such as:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Canadian citizen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permanent resident<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protected person or convention refugee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid work permit and working full-time in Ontario<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certain applicants for permanent residence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No waiting period<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ontario currently has&nbsp;<strong>no mandatory waiting period<\/strong>&nbsp;for OHIP once you are eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Documents you must bring<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You need&nbsp;<strong>three original documents<\/strong>&nbsp;(no photocopies):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Proof of status in person<\/strong>&nbsp;at a&nbsp;<strong>ServiceOntario centre<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will complete a&nbsp;<strong>Registration for Ontario Health Insurance Coverage<\/strong>&nbsp;form at the office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>After you apply<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If approved, your&nbsp;<strong>health card is mailed to you<\/strong>, usually within a few weeks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may receive temporary confirmation while waiting for the card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Children and newborns<\/strong>\n<ul
